I remember as a child
going to the Fort Knox Barr Library every Sunday with my mother and siblings. I
would see librarians shelving books, checking out books and helping patrons
find materials. I was so fascinated, that I fell in love with libraries immediately.
My love for libraries grew so much that I became a candy stripper librarian
aide at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. I later became
a high school library aide my senior year. While at Western Kentucky
University, I became a library aide at the Bowling Green Public Library in
Bowling Green, Kentucky. I got my BA in Library Media Education, History &
Social Studies from Western Kentucky University. In addition to academic work,
my experience also includes professional development training in libraries,
working as a full time school librarian for two years, member of American
Library Association, and Accelerated Reader Program Coordinator. School librarians have changed over the
years. School librarians don’t sit behind the desk, read books and shhhh
patrons all day, school librarian job description have changed. School librarians
workload range from primary technology integration specialist, overseeing and
participating in the daily functions,
operation and services of a school library media center, supervises
staff assigned to the school library media center, cataloguing, classifying and
preparing all books, journals videos for circulation and assisting students,
teachers and others in researching/locating materials and information. Many school librarians have evolved because of
technology. Technology has changed the way school librarians teach and share
information. . When you walk into a school library you see computers,
smart boards, printers ipads, ebooks and etc. Today’s school librarians are not afraid to use or teach
technology skills. I noticed the other day a librarian was helping someone at
the computer. I was amazed, because it wouldn’t have happen when I was a child.
The only technology librarians knew back then was vcr, overhead projectors and
television. If you ask them for help at the computer they would try their best
to help you and if the problem wasn’t solve then he or she would leave you and
the computer alone. I
myself was one of those librarians thirteen years ago. During my undergrad, I
didn't like to use a computer unless it was the Internet. To me technology was
just trouble. Over the years, I have grown to love technology and use it quite
often. However the major skill that I still lack in is technology leadership. I
get upset, because I don’t know how to operate the latest technology equipment (ipad,
kindle, iphone etc) or software(Windows 8, Dreamweaver etc). How am I going to
integrate technology in the classroom/library, help plan technology
programming, purchase and maintain equipment and train teachers when I myself
don’t know how to use the latest technology devices. This made me realize that I needed to get an advance degree in
Library Studies. My advance degree will be in School Library Media. School
Library Media is a degree program that will prepare me to teach library skills
to elementary and secondary students, meet students and teachers informational
needs, emerge technology, expand my knowledge of the school library media field
and run the school library media center on a daily basis. This degree will allow me teach in New Jersey
school districts for a couple of years. After working as a media specialist, I
can/will serve as the director of Instructional Technology & Library
Services for ten years. After retiring from the school system, I would like to
earn my PH.D in information and library studies from Rutgers University. Once I
earn my PH.D I plan to work as a professional librarian in the Academic and
Public Library. In conclusion what sets me apart from other graduate school
candidates is my tenacity to get things done, leadership skills, ability to
work with others and assess & appropriately respond to situations.

MLIS ESSAY
I am trying to get into graduate school. Can someone critique my essay. Thanks.

New Jersey Saga Part 2
What can I say, the Saga just continues. I forgot to mention in my last blog about the events that took place after 6:00 p.m. I also forgot to mention;I contacted the police at 3:00p.m. to see if they could pick me up at the Thomas Service Center in New Jersey. The police finally arrived between 5:45p.m.-6:00p.m. When the police showed up I told him a taxi was going to pick my dogs and I up. The police officer took off. Twenty minutes later the taxi arrived. He drove my dogs and I to the Auto Body Shop, because my car was there. I paid the taxi driver and got into my car. My dogs and I was left alone in the dark at the Auto Body Shop. We sat there in car at the Auto Body Shop until another tow truck came and got my car around 8:00p.m. To Be Continued............
Situations
Thankful. I am so thankful that Christ gave His life for me. Without God's grace and mercy, I wouldn't be alive. I am so thankful for all the bad things that has happen to me . I am thankful for my two beautiful dogs. I am thankful to see another day. I am thankful that my body is working. I am thankful that I have an immediate family. I am thankful that God is still on the throne. I am thankful that Christ forgives me everyday. I am thankful for my car. I am thankful that you are reading my blog. I am thankful for whatever may come my way. I am thankful for my enemies. I am thankful for my new friends. I am thankful. In closing, I would like to say to God, Jesus & Holy Spirit, I love you and thank you.

GOD HELP THEM----Are there any Good Smaritans out there--NEW JERSEY EXPERIENCE
I recently had people abuse me as well as my pets. I was stranded in the cold from 1:00p.m.-6:00p.m. at the Thomas Edison Service Center in New Jersey. No one would help me get to my car; which was towed to a Auto Body Shop. All of those people who saw me stand out in the cold with my dogs did nothing. My two cell phones were not working an no one would lend me their phone to use. As I stood out there, the Holy Spirit reminded of a text in the bible; which states: "What you have done to them you have done it to Me(Jesus)."(Matthew 25:30-46). I just pray and hope that I will always help my fellowman no matter who they are and where they come from. I want to go to Heaven and see God. The only way to get to Heaven and see Him is by obeying God's word, obeying God and helping my fellowman.
Thank You, Jesus! The one thing that got to me was that African Americans didn't even help me. My own color; which is sad. Worst thing of it all is that none of these people that saw me and didn't do anything were Christians or were they?
What was really sad is that no one wanted to help me at all, but they wanted to take my dogs away from me.
Another thing, I been up in New Jersey ever since June of last year and no one wanted to give me a job. I sent out resumes, fill out applications and still no one contacted me or they will tell me to contact them in the future. I have college degrees. The only job that I could get was an 8.00 hour job and I got that in December of 2007. This is really sad. The ways things have went so far, they probably have already been through my things in storage.
A lot of people have spreaded some lies about me. All I can do is pray for those individuals and God to help them as a person. As I close out, please seek out the truth before you open up your mouth about a situation. It might just cost you your career, character and friendships.
Thank You, Jesus for everything that has happened to me and help me to Forgive them that don't know you or act like they know you.
